No it’s not wrong, what’s that saying that the cops use? “Do the crime, pay the time”. It’s the law buddy.

because of whatever reason you have for yourself to drink and get behind the wheel of a car is not justifiable in a court of law….you may (or will one day) cost someone else their life.

You’re right it is overkill to send someone to jail for a DUI, but that is what the govt’ wants you to think about before you drink and get into a car.

Sorry for your mistake and I hope you are able to get through this alright.

These are all the facts that you should of considered before you got drunk and caught for DUI. Only God knows how many times you drove before you got caught drunk..

Considering how many people are killed by drunk drivers, I see no problem with making DUI a crime.

Not when everyone has cell phones and the bartenders all know several taxi cab companies.

Answer is NO, just because you MAY cause a crash is no reason for jail time. How about those that do cause crashes sober , all they GET is a $ fine, for DOING what you MAY do. Most crashes are caused by sober drivers but all they get is points off their drivers license. At least treat the ones that cause crashes the same as those who may cause a crash. Put everybody that causes a crash in prison, no matter what the reason for their bad driving.

if you could just realize the pain and grief that people go through who are affected by drunk drivers you would not only understand the strict laws but appreciate them as well. you can get another job and license but we only get one life

Lucky the death penalty does not apply.
One persons choice to party often ends with others paying for it with their lives.
That’s one hell of a mistake.
Worked nights in an ER for a number of years & have nothing but contempt for drunk drivers.
Have seen entire families wiped out because one drunk ran a light.
The laws are tighter because there are too many (preventable) alcohol related deaths.
Think the laws are tough here ; go to some european countries, DUI? you don’t just lose your license , go to jail, and you lose your car.
Sorry sport no sympathy here.
Do wish you well if you learned something from this mess.
